To be a circulator aka petition gatherer you must be:
U.S. Citizen and
18 years of age
Petition gatherers must review the instructions located in the front of each booklet to ensure they understand the requirements for gathering signatures.
Only one person may circulate an individual petition book, each book contains 150 signatures, It cannot be transferred to another person.
The petition booklet cannot be dismantled, copies may not be made of the signature pages and personal identifying information provided in the booklets should not be collected.
Do not mark in the petition books, only the signers are allowed to fill out the petition book, unless you are helping someone fill out the petition book due to disability or inability to fill it out themselves.
Who can sign a petition book?
Only qualified registered Alaskan voters may sign the petition and they must be qualified and registered on or before the date they sign the petition book.
Each signer must fill out: Printed Name, Address, Numerical Identifier such as: Alaska Voter ID, Alaska Drivers license, Alaska ID Card, Date of Birth, Social Security Number or last four of the SS number.
After you finish collecting signatures you must complete the certification affidavit
1) You must sign in front of a Notary Public
2) You must print your name in the certification affidavit verify the certification statements 1-7
3) Sign the statement.
4) Provide identifier such as voter number, date of birth, Alaska ID Number, or last 4 of Social Security
Failure to complete the certification will invalidate the petition booklet and the signatures will not be counted.
All Petition books must be returned to Alaskans For Honest Elections, do not return them to the Division of Elections or the State of Alaska.
